Palimpsest: Tribunal of the Alps

Here is what little we know of our neighbors in the surrounding mountains:

Breithorn
Breithorn is located on a mountain bearing the same name. A winter covenant, it has a handful of magi and no affiliation to any one House. Little is known about Breithorn, since they are not very involved with Hermetic politics.

Brugg
Brugg is not only located within the town of the same name, it is the town of the same name. The covenant of Brugg and the town of Brugg are the same. Located on the confluence of the River Aare and the River Reuss, Brugg is called "The City of Bridges." Its location just north of the Alps and south of the Holy Roman Empire puts it just within the Tribunal of the Greater Alps. Brugg is affiliated with House Mercere as the Redcaps use its central location as a North of the Alps staging ground. It is an up and coming covenant.

Castellemare
This Bavarian Covenant lies high in the Austrian Alps in the Inn Valley, not far from the town of Innsbruck (just south of the village of Imst and hidden from the valley far below). Manifested in an impressive old castle, Castellemare reportedly houses an impressive library and a great number servants, but through the subtle machinations of its magi, is not widely known or regarded within the Duchy. It is growing in power though

Cave-of-Twisting-Shadows
This is the Domus Magnus of House Criamon and is as odd as one would expect. Built into a series of caves high in the Alps, the Cave of Twisting Shadows seems to move from place to place as the same entrance can never be used twice. It controls a lot of the politics in the area, being in competition with Valnastium.  Calixtus has told us that he left us a Vis supply here, but all we have is the ramblings of our resident Criamon, Jebtha, for directions.  Oi.

Gozwinpas
Gozwinpas is a semi-powerful covenant located in the mountain pass called Splugenpass. A heavily fortified building, the covenant makes its living by providing armed escorts to travelers and merchants traveling the pass and by breeding hunting dogs and warhorses for the nobility. The covenant is short on magi but has a large force of grogs and other alpine experts. It is also quite rich due to extensive land holding bequeathed by the Emperor about two hundred years ago.

Lindau
This summer covenant is located on a penninsula thrusting into the waters of Lake Bodensee and is associated somehow with a convent on the island. A worldly covenant, Lindau is mostly filled with Christian magi. Lindau is perhaps a Christian covenant, but whether that applies to the whole membership or a select few remains unclear.

Nubes Fenestre
An ancient covenant, Nubes Fenestre ('Window to the Clouds') Covenant is located in the Tirol near Badgastein at the summit of the Hocharn (a majestic peak in the Hohe Tauern not far from the Grossglockner). Founded by one of the original apprentices of Merinita, this venerable  Covenant became a stronghold of Tytalus briefly before the disgrace of their House left it with no particular affiliation in the modern age. Its turb is quite small, though its advantageous position suggests that it will remain a stable Covenant for many more years to come.

Valnastium
(Jerbiton Domus Magnus)
Valnastium is built on the refurbished ruins of a Roman military villa. Complete with sculptures, baths, paintings, frescoes, and sculptured terraces, Valnastium embodies the spirit of House Jerbiton. There are often musicians, artists, local nobility, and other artisans guesting at the house, many of whom do not know of the owners' true nature. Although mostly Jerbitons, the covenant has a few magi from other Houses who share the Jerbiton ethic.

Note!  The covenants of Nubes Fenestre and Castellemare were taken unashamedly from
The Rabenstein Saga and edited for our own saga. Although some names and
characters may be the same, we have twisted these around for our own ends.
